Challenger is one of those household names. In 1987 the Caterpillar corporation created the trade name Challenger for its line of rubber-tracked tractors. In 2002 AGCO purchased the line from Caterpillar and now manufactures the tractors under the AGCO Challenger brand with distribution through Caterpillar dealers.
