And while the impending hours of labor that go into planting can be a daunting thought, it feels good to start the new season fresh. With more sunlight and warmer temperatures, we all slowly emerge from our hibernation (or at least our layers of clothing). And spring sure feels amazing. 1.Smelling the freshly broken ground. Nothing smells quite like newly broken soil, which smells like spring and new beginnings.
2.When the sun doesn’t set at 5 pm anymore and the days seem longer and longer.
3.Seeing the equipment, especially tractors and planters, emerging from the sheds and barns for their spring clean-up.
4.When the canned goods that we canned fresh from the garden last year start to dwindle, we know it’s time to think about this year’s garden.
5.When the snow disappears, finally. This year it seems like it never will, but there’s nothing better than that first sign of new grass from under the frozen ground.
6.When you start seeing signs of life again – birds and bugs emerge!
