Livestock Trailers

Have you had a hard time finding livestock trailers for sale? Rather than searching multiple sites, turn to Fastline for one of the largest collections of used livestock trailers from sellers across the country. A trailer purchase is an investment, and choosing the right trailer for your needs doesn't have to be difficult. Clint Lancaster of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) recommends checking the width between the cross members of the trailer. If you're transporting heavy livestock, you'll want a trailer with cross members between 12 and 16 inches apart. Consider gross vehicle weight (GVW). A GVW rating will give you both trailer weight and maximum payload capacity. Check your towing vehicle's hauling capabilities. You'll want to make sure you won't exceed the towing capacity of your towing vehicle. If you'll be using your trailer to move horses, take extra care. Make sure there's enough room in the trailer for them to stand comfortably, and check that the interior has no sharp protrusions that might injure the animals. When browsing your trailer options, ask the sellers about the composition and quality of the trailer floor. An improperly maintained wooden floor can deteriorate over time. Also think about loading access to the trailer. Ramps and inclines make the job of loading and unloading livestock less stressful on the animals and easier on you. Regardless of what type of trailer you purchase, follow the advice of Colorado State University animal science professor Temple Grandin: Gradually acclimate your livestock to the trailer by loading and unloading your stock so the animals get used to the sight and smell. When you're seeking a livestock trailer for your on-the-road adventures, turn to Fastline for one of the Internet's largest databases for used livestock trailers for sale.
